oh yes, i have been drinking jaffna convent communion wine so i am in the ZONE. parrrrt two!

we got bored with jaffna so we went to delft, that's one of the islands off the top end of sri lanka, the furthest one away. it's dead hard to get to, you have to go on a boat:

the island is pretty big but really really isolated, we wanted to get around a bit and have a look at the other side, the only way was to hire a track'r, or tractor as they say outside devon. well, a sort of tractor.



we sat in the trailer and it had no suspension, so every time we went over a bump my testicles were brought into firm contact with the metal rail. by the way the walls are all made out of coral, there is tons and tons of it on the island.

we went in the tractor to a baobab tree, there are very few of these in asia. in fact there are two, and they're both in sri lanka.



then we looked for somewhere to stay but there wasnt anywhere. so we entertained the locals and spleed on the beach:

k rubbish digital zoom but it's my best blue magpie pic evar, these things are rare i think. i dunno i'm not that keen on birds really, boring feathery things, they're rubbish.



a slender loris that had fallen out of a tree so we took it in. it did die in the end unfortunately; sorry. they are very fragile. but it was cool while it lasted. these also rare.

POLITICAL POST - Re Sri Lankan election results

i know it's been ages since last update, and i would like to apologise. but i'm not going to! ha ha ha deal with it.

on with the post!

we went to jaffna, apparently it's much more like india than the south of sri lanka cos it's full of tamils not sinhalese. so the music's better, for a start. and the women are fitter, and the clothes are nicer. oh, and the climate's better. and the food too - wait a second, what am i doing in this part of the country ffs?

i spose there is less chance of getting yr legs blown off down here:



these signs are everywhere, denoting mine fields, there's also loads of ngo types in their air con 4x4s buzzing around looking for mines. i told them wouldnt it be easier just to look out for the signs then they'd find the mines no problem. i dunno, ngo's, they never think things through.

jaffna is utterly buzzing at night, here is ben and john in just one of the literally some* bars in the town.

so, having quenched our thirst, what's missing? religion, that's what! jaffna's got loads of those temples that look like huge and artistic landfill sites:



they are ace inside, lots of bare chested men running around pouring water from one tank to another, dribbling warm milk around, tying things to other things and burning stuff. it's a bit like when you're young and experimenting with matches. a bit.

we went to another temple...us being extremely sharp when it comes to noticing exposed female flesh, noticed this:



this looks like a GREAT religion.
