Elephants On Things, an occasional series part II

an elephant on a truck! we were going about 40mph. this is an entirely approved method of long distance elephant transport, and the animals seem to like it...

BIG SIPDERS

we were in the plot and found the biggest spider i ever saw...it was as big as my hand, and its legs were all folded in too, so as big as my hand but SOLID spider...it was sitting on the tree at almost precisely the point that you'd put your hand on it if you were walking uphill. BUT I DIDN@T HAVE MY CAMERA DAMMIT cos it was raining.

we stood and feared it for a bit, then did some poking it with a very very long stick until it was really annoyed, then we went and had tea. the end

just that there's been sod all happening for a while like, at least anything i can get photos of

but i went to colombo and had a nice time...i ate food in the ACTUAL hilton! the HILTON actually!! like, for actual posh people and that! we found a table out of direct sight so nobody would notice me in the restaurant and throw me out for being a skank.

erm...i still havent found out whether i passed the driving test, soz :\ will try to find out soon ish but you know what it's like out here. well actually i spose you don't really. oh well it is up to me to educate you

here is a nice view we found on moulawella, it's sort of off the path a bit but pretty good, there is me and one of my assistants



a green pit viper, semi poisonous (you only semi die, right?). it was sleeping in our garage at the field station until jayasena woke it up by poking it with a stick, then wellyed it into the stream with a fluid golf swing



finally, one of my field assistants got bit! this is what bit him. now this should impress the ladies
